Birthdays of Famous Authors {December}

Hello Reader,

This month we are celebrating Rudyard Kipling month!! But he is not the only author celebrating his birthday this month. Here are some other authors who celebrate their birthday this month:


  •  Alfred Joyce Kilmer: (December 6,1886-July 30,1918)


Alfred Joyce Kilmer was usually referred to as "Joyce Kilmer". Apart from being a prolific poet, he was also a journalist,editor,literary critic and a lecturer.He is known for his poem, "Trees".






  • John Milton: (December 9, 1608 – November 8, 1674)



John Milton who was also a polemicist and a civil servant earned his place in the history of literature through his epic poem ,"Paradise Lost".





  





  •    Emily Dickinson: (December 10, 1830 – May 15, 1886)


She is considered to be one of America's finest poets. Her style of writing poems was considered rather unique for the era in which she wrote. However, most of her poems were published after her death.










  • Jane Austen: (December 16, 1775 – July 18, 1817)


Jane Austen is one of the most widely read writers in English Literature. Her books such as "Pride and Prejudice", "Persuasion", "Sense and Sensibility","Emma" and "Persuasion" have earned her importance among many critics.








  •  William Safire: (December 17, 1929 – September 27, 2009) 

William Safire was an American author, columnist, journalist and presidential speechwriter. He is perhaps best known as the author of "On Language" in the New York Times Magazine.






  • Arthur Charles Clarke: (December  16, 1917 – March 19, 2008)
     
Arthur Clarke was a British science fiction writer, inventor, undersea explorer and television series host.He is best known for his novel,"2001-A Space Odyssey". He, along with Isaac Asimov and Robert Heinlein were known as the "Big Three" of science fiction for many years.




  • Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: (December 11, 1918 – August 3, 2008) 
     
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was an eminent Russian novelist and historian. "The Gulag Archipelago" and "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" are two of his best-known works.
